Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

Rudolf -Rudi- Weissmair and Graham Marshall went all the way to the top (1156 m – Garmin Etrex value) of the hill northwest of Khahnar … seems to be frequently visited by people … Later they went downhill on the west side to look for sinkholes and caves, but found nothing (anonymous Arbenz, T et al. 2013.08.07 -Meghalaya expedition 2012 diary, Kopili team- Diary.doc for Monday, 13th February 2012). SETTING: The height .3727 (1137 m) is indicated on the 1973 edition of the Tactical Pilotage Chart TPC H-10D near (±500 m) 25°23'28”N: 92°35'50”E (WGS57) and about 800 m in a direct line approximately northwest (609 m north, -515.5 m east, 91 m zenithal) from the church dedicated to the Holy Jo in the secular village of Khahnar (note 1) but 19 m vertically lower than the recorded 1156 m – Garmin Etrex value (anonymous Arbenz, T et al. 2013.08.07 Mss: Diary 2012.doc). SITUATION: At unidentified locations somewhere on an allegedly west side (anonymous Arbenz, T et al. 2013.08.07 Mss: Diar 2012.doc) which may well refer to the opposite eastern flank of Lum Khahnar. POSITION 1973: (±500 m) 25°23'28”N: 92°35'50”E: 1137 m indicated as 3727 feet (WGS57, Tactical Pilotage Chart TPC H-10D). POSITION 2012a: (unspecified precision error) 1156 m for the hill northwest of Khahnar (Weissmair, R & Marshall, G 2012.02.13 GPS Garmin Etrex in: anonymous Arbenz, T et al. 2013.08.07 Mss: Diary 2012.doc). POSITION 2012b: (unspecified precision error) 25°23'28.1”N: 92°35'48.0”E: 1100 m for the hill northwest of Khanhar [sic! qua: Khahnar] (Weissmair, R & Ludwig, P 2012.02.20 in: anonymous Arbenz, T et al. 2013.08.07 Mss: Diary 2012.doc). 2012.doc) which may well refer to the opposite eastern flank of Lum Khahnar. History

EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2012.02.13, trip 1: Rudolf 'Rudi' Weissmair and Graham Marshall, also known in certain circles as Rudi and Graham mastered on 13th February 2012 (Monday) to succeed in conquering nothing less than the top of the hill northwest of Khahnar to look for places for karst denudation experiments. On the top they found a proper location for a limestone tablet station. The only [note 2] disadvantage is that this place seems to be frequently visited by people (anonymous Arbenz, T et al. 2013.08.07 'Meghalaya expedition 2012 diary, Kopili team' Diary.doc). 2012.02.20, trip 2: Rudolf 'Rudi' Weissmair and Peter Ludwig: 20th February 2012 (Monday) … Peter and Rudi. Limestone Tablet Experiment: Position N25o 23’28.1’ / E92o 35’ 48.0’’, altitude 1110m (the hill northwest of Khanhar [sic!]); one sample with 6 single samples was dug in a depth of 20 cm, the second sample (five single samples) was stored on the surface of a sandstone rock, covered with a wire mesh (anonyous Arbenz, T et al. 2013.08.07 Mss: Diary 2012.doc).
