Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 05/07/2016

About 40 "caves" and "cave ruins" (man-made rock chambers used as troglodyte settlements) near the bottom of the southern tip of Dzong Yul Brag, the inselberg in the upper Dzong Chu (Muktinath Valley), survived in differing conditions at heights of up to 52 m above the river bed. Some of the lower "caves" are partly (and perhaps completely) buried below debris fans. Many of the upper chambers, arranged at defined horizons, survived as barely distinguishale back walls only. Some chambers are interconnected by throughways and windows.
