Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 31/05/2016

An unspecified cave entrance (unidentified shape, unidentified dimensions, unidentified orientation, unidentified characteristics) is said already in February 1998 to give access to a cave called »Krem Sooksu« (or so) which has not yet been identified (January 2013). ETYMOLOGY: The recorded cave name "Krem Sooksu" has been interpreted as »Dog's Urine Cave« (Kharpran Daly, B D 1998.02.17 personal communication) but this would be rather a "Krem Umjung Ksew" (note 1). SITUATION: At an unknown location and in an unidentified setting somewhere in the vicinity of the village of Tongseng (±500 m N25°19'25”: E092°30'05” WGS84) on the Shnongrim ridge.

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 31/05/2016

NOTE 1: "ka umjung" (Khasi, noun) or ”ka um-jung” (SINGH, N 1906: 242), ”ka umjung” (SINGH, N 1920: 568), ”ka umjung” (BLAH, E 2007: 321) »the urine« (SINGH, N 1906: 242; SINGH, N 1920: 568; BLAH, E 2007: 321). "u ksew" (Khasi, noun), contracted ”u 'sew” (SINGH, N 1906: 186), »a dog« (SINGH, N 1906: 49; SINGH, N 1920: 135; BLAH, E 2007: 83).
