Description
An unspecified cave entrance (unidentified shape, unidentified dimensions, unidentified orientation) beneath the February water level of the Myntdu (Hari Nala, Hari River) was said on 17th February 2014 to give access to a not only unconventional but also rare and therefore significant but, unfortunately, entirely cave unexplored formed in alternations of thin fossiliferous limestones, sandstones, and shales, with occasional thin beds of carbonaceous shale, coal, and ironstone (MATHUR & EVANS 1964: 13) of the Late Eocene Kopili Stage (MATHUR & EVANS 1964: 13) represented by Kopili Alternations (MATHUR & EVANS 1964: 12; NAG & PAL 1996). SITUATION: On one or the other bank of the Myntdu and, in case of starting somewhere near Pasadwar (N25°08'45”: 092°12'50” WGS84), possibly in a setting more or less a 10 minute boat trip down the river (anonymous Brooks, S J et al. 2014.04.05 Mss). CAVE DESCRIPTION: Caving with remote senses combined with slavishly prejudice-guided approach to caveexploration proved almost more disappointing then expected when the boatman pushed his pole below the waterline at something which was blindly done away with as if it could be nothing but an undercut rock face but was not even at little looked at (anonymous Brooks, S J et al. 2014.04.05 Mss: Diary Meghalaya 2014 Second Edit: 17th February, Monday). EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2014.02.17: An unidentified caving instructor at Pasadwar took Brian D Kharpran Daly, Barbara 'Boesch' Bösch, Michel 'Boesch' Bösch, Oana Chachula, David 'Cookie' Cooke, Marcel Dikstra, Peter Ludwig, Des McNally, and Tudor Tamsa from the beach on the Myntdu (the historical Hari River) a 10 minute boat trip down the river. They were seriously doubtful by now, but checked it out. It proved almost more disappointing then expected when the boatman pushed his pole below the waterline at something that could be nothing but an undercut rock face (anonymous Brooks, S J et al. 2014.04.05 Mss: Diary Meghalaya 2014 Second Edit: 17th February, Monday).
