Description
An unspecified cave called Krem Khlieh Umso (Cave [at the] Head [of the] Red / Rusty [coloured] Stream) reported a certain Maho (February 2000 personal communication with Brian D. Kharpran Daly) from an unspecified location somewhere in the vicinity of Thangskai (25°11'45”N: 92°22'35“E) village, where there are caves called Krem –>Umda and Krem –>Umso, or Krem –> Umsaw, with which it may be identical. ETYMOLOGY: The Khasi -ka um- is juice, water, stream while the Khasi -ka umsâw- and Synteng -ka umso- translates literally into a water [coloured] red / rusty, a stream [coloured] red / rusty and means a flood (SINGH, N 1906: 242). Spate? Menstruation?
