A karst spring yielding 800 lps has been reported from somewhere near Kumargaon or Komargaon (note 1), a village about 5 km west of Jagdalpur (N19°04': E82°02') on the road to Chitrakot (note 2). The spring, rising from Kanger Limestone (Indravati Series, Purana Group), is located in a low topographic area and rises from about half a dozen orifices in a bowl-shaped depression measuring 60 m in diameter and 3 to 5 m in depth (ADYALKAR & RADHAKRISHNA (1972: 136; plate 19 figure 9).

NOTE 1: The relevant Survey of India sheet 65-E/16 (1967 edition) shows at the spot N19°06': E081°57' where ADYALKAR & RADHAKRISHNA (1972) position their »Kumargaon« (page 136) or »Komargaon« (page 140: plate XIX figure 10) a place called Kumrhawand above the left (southern) bank of the Indravati river. AMS sheet NE44-03 Jagdalpur (U502 series,1963 edition) shows shows deserted settlements in this area. NOTE 2: Chitrakot N19°11': E081°43' (nima.mil/geonames accessed 16.11.2003) on Survey of India sheet 65-E/12 (not seen) is not shown AMS sheet NE44-03 Jabalpur (U502 series, 1963 edition) but in the India Road Atlas (Eicher Goodearth 2006: 95 H1) at a travelling diatnce of 36 km approximately ENE from Jagdalpur (N19°04': E082°02').
