Description

An »inexistent cave« (Ruggieri 2008.02.08 Mss) is not (is it?) to be found in »Sariska park« (Sariska National Park). Compare the »slit like cave« at –>Bandipule or Pandupole (Ranjit Lal 2008.02.13). SITUATION: »Sariska National Park« is indicated in the India Road Atlas (Eicher Goodearth 2006: 20 C4) in Alwar district at a travelling distance of about 20 km from Alwar (N27°34': E76°36') on the road approximately south-west via Shahpura (N27°23': E75°58') and »Seriska« (sic! N27°24': E76°24' nima.mil/geonames accessed 16.11.2003) to Jaipur (N26°55': E75°49'). »Sariska Tiger Reserve is well nestled in the Aravali Hills covering 800 square kilometres area divided into the grasslands, dry deciduous forests, sheer cliffs and rocky landscape« (sariskanationalpark.com accessed 2008.02.13). »Sariska is situated only 200 km from Delhi and 107 km from Jaipur. Although larger than Ranthambor, it is less commercialised and has less tigers but a similar topography. It covers an area of 800 square kilometres in total, with a core area of approximately 500 square kilometres. The Northern Aravali Hills dominate the skyline with their mixture of sharp cliffs and long narrow valleys. The area was declared a sanctuary in 1955 and became a National Park in 1979. The landscape of Sariska comprises of hills and narrow valleys of the Aravali hill range. The topography of Sariska supports scrub-thorn arid forests, dry deciduous forests, rocks and grasses. The broad range of wildlife here is a wonderful example of ecological adoption and tolerance, for the climate here is variable as well as erratic« (yhaidelhi.org/ComingEvents/Index.html accessed 2008.02.13).
