Description
-Cat Cave- is a seasonal stream cave suspected to function as one of the sinks draining the –>Waikutaran (Kutabram) depression. Two cave entrances (no size mentioned), of which one, however, appears to be a pothole or daylight window and the other a walk-in cave entrance at the base of what appears to be a system of grykes (2 to 3 m wide, no depth mentioned), give access to approximately 40 m of dry passage which joins at a T-junction a north-west-south-east or vice versa trending main passage. The left-hand side / north-west branch (downstream or upstream) sumps after about 75 m in the -Interupted Lake- (two bedrock pillars, one muddy shore). The south-east / right-hand branch (upstream or downstream) climbs across a dry, bouldery collapse area and continues (Valentine Day's Series, Interupted Dream Chamber) with an often disected maze (140 m surveyed but obviously containing 500 to 600 m of cave passage length) leading above the level of the water to various too tight continuation and no obvious way on. SITUATION 1 (Brooks 2003.02.14 personal communication): Somewhere at Chibak. SITUATION 2 (Jantschke 2003.02.14 personal communication): At a linear distance of 580 m south-east of the northern end of Chibak (N25°14'35.6”: E091°02'29.4” unspecified precision error, WGS84, GPS Garmin 12). SITUATION 3 (Bäumler 2003.02.14): At a distance of 500 m east of what was in February 2003 the Chibak headman's house (N25°14'28.6”: E091°02'27.8” unidentified precision error, WGS84, GPS Garmin 12).
