Description

Martin Ellis - 17/02/2020

The entrance is large and opens into a boulder floored room. A small passage in the left wall of this room leads to a skylight room and continuing small passages with Serow faeces and Limestone Wren Babbler nests. The best preserved prehistoric pottery of Khao Tham Erewan was found in this cave. Large pieces of pot that could be fitted back together were found between the large boulders of the entrance and skylight chambers. This was provisionally dated to 2,500 to 3,000 years old. Although small, this cave was certainly an important burial site for prehistoric people of the area.
