Description
A locally known cave, which is called Krem Soh Lewe or Krem Soh Lewei, is said (Kharpran Daly 2002.02.25 personal communication) to be situated at an unknown location somewhere in the vicinity of Krem –>Shrieh (Khaidong). The existence of this cave, however, never has been confirmed and its location remains to be identified. ETYMOLOGY: The Khasi -u soh-lew- is is a fruit used for poisoning fish (SINGH, N 1906: 208). The Khasi adjective -eh- means hard, difficult, unrelenting and the Khasi adverb -eh- corresponds to the English very exceedingly while -ei- is a word used to emphasize or soften the expression, and the suffix -ei- means gratis, gratuiously (SINGH, N 1906: 75).
