GOVINDGARH (Cave at)

Cave is indicated on Survey of India sheets 63-H (1987 edition) and 63-H/07 (1973 edition). SITUATION: At a spot near N24°18'30': E081°16': 410 m asl) which lies on the southern flank of the Govindgarh Reserved Forest (Kaimur Hills) and some 80 vertical metre above the adjacent plain (about 350 m asl), circa 1.5 km south-southwest of Papra Pahar (a hill culminating at 680 m asl), about 9 km in a direct line approximately south-east of Govindgarh town (N24°22'30”: E081°18') which lies 18 km along the road (towards Beorali / Baronda?) due south of Rewa town. The nearest (fair weather) road head appers to be Khorari (N24°18': E081°15'01”: 344 m asl), reachable from Govindgarh (330 m asl) via the Tila Ghat, a pass near N24°18': E081°14'30” and 4 km along the road from Jigna, which itself lies 7 km along the road from Govindgarh.
