Tham Sa Nam - KA0366
14.877718,98.873755
Location
In a forest area south of the agricultural fields surrounding Ban Ton Maprow.
Description
The cave has a vertical entrance shaft some 8m wide and a minimum of 28m deep on the northern side. The best entry point is on the southeastern side where there is a good belay (a large tree) and the rope hangs more freely. At this point it is a 32m pitch. Most of the cave floor is a steeply angled scree slope. It is largely composed of broken rock, but under the open shaft it is surfaced with loose earth and forest litter. The main passage is generally 10-15m wide. About 40m in the slope levels out and there is a shallow pool extending the full width of the passage. This area of the cave is well decorated with a fine display of stalactites and calcite covered walls. There is also a thin crystal coating on the floor, suggesting the pool is sometimes deeper, perhaps during the wet season.
