Description
A stream cave with two cave entrances is connected to Krem –>Iawe and gives access, if it is found in the thicket, to it's lower reaches. ETYMOLOGY: No autochthonous, indigenous or locally known name has been identified for what had been dubbed -Small Iaw Cave- and was disguised as a Pseudokhasi Krem Iawe Barit (Boycott 2003.02.08 Mss: Iawe Barit 8/2/3) in an attempt to specify the duplicated cave name of Krem –>Iawe by adding the contracted Khasi adjective -barit- (note 1) instead of -[ba] rit“ (note 2). CAVE DESCRIPTION: Downstream 100 m to entrance by dam at bottom of cliff. Dry passages leading off tight over stalagmite [speleothem] are not explored. Upstream 300 m, deep gours and canals connect to the wet downstream of Krem Iawe (Boycott 2003.02.08 Mss: Iawe Barit 8/2/3). SITUATION: Near the bottom of Lum Manar, a spur of the Shnongrim Ridge above the left (western) bank of the Litang (Letein, Litien) River: To left of path to Krem Iawe, after leaving Paddy fields, 5 m from thepath, crawl through boulders drops into streamway (Boycott 2003.02.08 Mss: Iawe Barit 8/2/3). CAVE LIFE: One bat [Chiroptera indet], spiders (Heteropoda), crickets, six inches [15 cm] long pigmented cave fish with eyes (Boycott 2003.02.08 Mss: Iawe Barit 8/2/3).path, crawl through boulders drops into streamway (Boycott 2003.02.08 Mss: Iawe Barit 8/2/3).
