Description
A relatively small but extraordinary cave temple or temple cave (?) of dubious nature and with unidentified dimensions is dedicated to Shiva and said to be 2000 years old (LONELY PLANET, India 1999: 707; 2001: 598 --no more mentioned in LONELY PLANET, India 2003 but in LONELY PLANET, North India 2001: 735). SITUATION: Deogarh (pronounced dev-garh, -Castle of Gods-) at N25°32': E073°54' (nima.mil/geonames accessed 16.11.2003) is indicated as Deogarh on AMS sheet NG43-10 Sojat (U502 series) but as Devghar in the India Road Atlas (Eicher Goodearth 2006: 34 D4) and lies at a travelling distance of 135 km (mostly along the National Highway NH8) approximately north from Udaipur (N24°35': E073°41').
