Description
A wide-open collapse doline with vertical walls, an estimated 30 m in diameter and 19.3 m deep (requires 30 m rope), identified Boyes, P W (2000.02.16 Mss: Krem Umtren 2) as a shaft in fully unspecified sandstone (Boyes 2000.02.16 Mss: Krem Umtren 2) or, more likely, in a calcareous facies of the Upper Cretaceous (Maestrichtian) Langpar Formation (note 1). SITUATION: Somewhere near a point where a stream is met east of a forest track which leads to Krem –>Umtren (Boyes 2000.02.16 Mss: Krem Umtren 2; BOYES, P W 2000 s.a.: 10). The recorded GPS-reading (note 2) indicates a spot which lies about 2.6 km in a direct line approximately east (074°) from the Nongtalang Inspection Bungalow (note 3). CAVE POTENTIAL: There is a possible dig in the collapse boulders on the east side of the hole's floor. CAVE LIFE: A one metre long snake observed on 16th February 2000 the passing of foreign cavers who, on the other hand, observed a one metre long snake familiar with the area.A wide-open collapse doline with vertical walls, an estimated 30 m in diameter and 19.3 m deep (requires 30 m rope), identified Boyes, P W (2000.02.16 Mss: Krem Umtren 2) as a shaft in fully unspecified sandstone (Boyes 2000.02.16 Mss: Krem Umtren 2) or, more likely, in a calcareous facies of the Upper Cretaceous (Maestrichtian) Langpar Formation (note 1).
