Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

Climb down [towards ESE] through loose sandstone boulders for 15 m to enter [past helictite speleothems] stream which meanders for 40 m [trending south] to sump [just beyond a 10 m long pool with a -dry- rats' nest in the west]. An inlet [Flatworm Inlet, some 50 m long, from the north-west] just before the sump leads to daylight [note 1] and sandstone choke after 20 m (Boycott, Antony 'Tony' 2002.02.11 Mss: Krem Umblai 1 & 2). SITUATION: 10 m east of N25°12'33.0-: E091°38'48.9- [±8.6 m, WGS84, A. Boycott 2002.02.11, Garmin 12XL].POSITIONS: The GPS position N25°12'33.0-: E091°38'48.9- [±8.6 m, WGS84, A. Boycott 2002.02.11, Garmin 12XL]: 605 m asl [GPS] on track 50 m east of the cave (Boycott 2002.02.11 Mss: Krem Umblai 1 & 2). Hence: N25°12'33-: E091°38'48.9- = sandstone / limestone border on Laitkynsew - Mustoh track. N25°12'33-: E091°38'47.5- = Krem Umblai 1, about 50 m west of GPS position on track. N25°12'33-: E091°38'48.5- = Krem Umblai 2, about 10 m westof GPS position on track. ELEVATION: Boycott, Antony 'Tony' (2002.02.11 Mss: Krem Umblai 1 & 2) recorded somewhere on the track not far from the cave an elevation of 605 m (GPS Gramin 12XL) but Thomas Arbenz 400 m asl (unknown method = GPS Garmin 38?) and the latter is believed to be probably more reliable (Boycott, Antony 'Tony' 2002.06.17 personal correspondence). PROSPECTS: Cave finish or cave finished. CAVE LIFE: Two fruit bats [Chiroptera] above sump, nest of rats [Rodentia: Rattus var.] above sump, Heteropoda [spiders], Opilionids [arvestmen / Arachnida: Opiliones], 15 cm long Flatworm, crickets (Boycott, Antony 'Tony' 2002.02.11 Mss: Krem Umblai 1 & 2).of GPS position on track.
