A collector's item: Three cave entrances represented by holes, which measure up to 72 cm by 36 cm in diameter, give access to a descent down into a solitary cave chamber, kidney-shaped in ground plan, measuring 5 m to 12 m in width, and on average 1 m high. ETYMOLOGY: The recorded cave name »Kollam Bharati« (M Narayana Reddy 1984 personal corresppondence) remains unexplained (note 1). »Kolam.— A … subtribe of Gonds in Chanda« and »Bharewa (from bharat, a mixture of copper and lead). A group of brass or bell-metal workers classed with the Kasar caste, but of lower social standing than the Kasars« (RUSSEL 1916, 1: Glossary). SITUATION: At a travelling distance of 25 km in an unspecified direction from one town of Atmakur (note 1).
