A hole [no size mentioned] which might lead to a cave (no name mentioned) is said to lie less than a kilometre west of the mule track from Chakrata (note 1) north to the Deoban Forest Rest House (note 2). APPROACH: Proceed from MORROW'S NECK? at the west [sic! for: north?] end of Chakrata, along the mule track to DEOBAN Forest Rest House. After about a mile and a half [2.4 km] to two males [sic! qua: two miles = 3.2 km], the track leaves the forest area and comes out into an open slope where the track begins to zigzag across the slope fairly steeply up to DEOBAN. From where the track leaves the forest as described, proceed up the track about 100 to 200 yds [circa 90 to 180 m] and on the left the speleologist will see a small shepherd's footpath on the left of the main track [note 3], more or less level, across the face of the slope towards a rock barrier about half a mile [800 m] off. Proceed along the shepherd's footpath until you come to the rock barrier where there is only on reasonably easy track leading over the rockbarrier by a sort of natural staircase among some bushes. Continue along this track and having left the staircase [deleted: and havin] proceed for about five minutes through the scrub jungle until you come to another rocky place. At this rocky place the path is separated from the rock face by about 2 yards [circa 2 m or so] and the hile [sic! qua: hole] which might lead to a cave is within this 2 yards (Glennie 1945.07.14 Mss). reasonably easy track leading over the rockbarrier by a sort of natural staircase among some bushes.
