Description
An impenetrable rift (Boycott, Antony 'Tony') or a too tight rift (Anthony 'Tony' R Jarratt) supposedly emits water vapour (Jarratt & Boycott 2002.02.19 Mss: Krem Umbah 1). ETYMOLOGY: The Khasi -Krem Umbah- translates by something along the lines of a Cave on the Stream of the Wet-Rice Cultivation Field as the Khasi noun -ka 'bâ- is an abbreviation of -ka kba- and means paddy, as, u 'ba-lum = highland rice (SINGH, N 1906: 6) and is probably better called Khap Umbah (). SITUATION: At an inexplicable location somewhere in the vicinity of one Mustoh village (note 1) and in an unidentified spatial relation to the twin sinks of the other, second Krem Umbah in the same vicinity (note 2). EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2002.02.11: Shemba Bynnud and unidentified local lads guided Anthony 'Tony' R Jarratt, Boycott, Antony 'Tony' and Jayne Stead from the village of Mustoh to an occasionally vapour emitting but impenetrable rift of Krem Umbah (Jarratt & Boycott 2002.02.19 Mss: Krem Umbah 1) where A. Boycott recorded a GPS postion.
