Description
The rare case of a tertiary cave (Breitenbach 2005.10.29 to 11.13 Mss; 2005.12.01 Mss) which, in this case, is formed by a fallen boulder (20 by 30 m large) that now rests at the base of a 20 m waterfall but formerly was part of a river cave (now lost: a short-cut of the retreating water fall?) complete with stalactites (pendant speleothems), which currently rest in horizontal position, still attached to their dislocated host rock SITUATION: Jamirkat Cave lies at a travelling distance of 3 km in an unspecified direction from an unidentified village of Gurna (note 2), somewhere in an unspecified Pithoragarh region (Breitenbach 2005.12.01 Mss) and, apparently, on a certain Jamir stream (kat, khad, khud, etc. = stream, gorge, ravine). The GPS position (note 1) recorded for Jamirkat Cave indicates a spot which lies at an unlikely linear distance of only 3 m (sic! three metres) due north of –>Mukteshwar Cave: N29°39'39.4”: E080°02'47.6” (±14 m, WGS84) = Jarmirkat Cave. N29°39'39.3”: 080°02'47.6” (±14 m, WGS84) = Mukteshwar Cave. CULTURAL HISTORY: There is a small temple (no name mentioned) next to the road and here is Dr. vet. Lohia, who is very kind and showed me around the location. CAVE POTENTIAL: The cave potential seems to be small but a wet suit is required to push possible leads to conclusion (Breitenbach 2005.10.29 to 11.13 Mss: Tagebuch; 2005.12.01 Mss: Bericht).080°02'47.6” (±14 m, WGS84) = Mukteshwar Cave.
