Location
West of the National Highway NH44 and about 800 m in a direct line approximately NNE (685 m north, -388 m east, and 29 m higher up) from the cave entrance to Krem –>Kotsati (note 1). The cave entrance to Synrang –>Thloo (Kotsati entrance 6) lies about 90 meters further north and 130 meters further east.
Description
General description
The initially 16 m wide and 14 m high cave entrance faces south-west, soon narrows down to 12 m in width and 10 m in height, and gives access to a complex of cave passages which collectively lead generally east and represent a tributary to the west (orographically right) side of the "Virgin River" (khasified: Wah Thei Sotti) flowing along the mastercave passage of Krem –>Kotsati. ETYMOLOGY: No autochthonous, indigenous or locally known cave name has been identified for what foreign cavers referred to as »Washing Place Inlet« due to a nearby and apparently perennial source of water, which resident people used (at least in the years 1996 and 1997) to wash kitchen utensils, clothes and themselves in the open air.
