Description
A relatively small sinkhole (5 m wide and 5 m deep) is characterised by a tributary, north-east to south-west draining gully, which seems to indicatey a seasonally flowing watercourse. In February 1999, the sinkhole had been clogged with an unstable assemblage (note 1) of rotting branches and creepers of the chainsaw family along with sandy rocks intermixed with slimy tree trunks and moss-clad boulders. SITUATION: In a wide and low depression north of the dry valley between the cave entrances to Krem –>Umsynrang and Synrang –>Pamiang and at a linear distance of 1.35 km north-west (317°) from the crucial roadfork in the village of Chiehruphi, from where it can be reached by following the footpath along the electric line to Musianglamare (old church ±32 m 25°13'21”N: 92°21'26”E).CAVE POTENTIAL: Access to the cave level where Krem Umsynrang and Synrang Pamiang consist of speleothem decorated passages is likely, perhaps even to these caves themselves. CAVE CLIMATE: The good cave inhaled the smoke of an unfiltered cigarette eagerly, never releasing it again, and thus suggested to consider the apparent presence of an inward air flow (air current, draught).
