Description
General description
Caves of unspecified nature (possibly man-made rock chambers), which LÜDERS, H (1904: 867-868, 1905) suspected to have been used for (religious?) prostitution (note 1), are situated somewhere near Vidisha (note 2) on one mount Nichaigiri, which the Sanskrit poet KALIDASA (circa 400b: Meghaduta 1.25) lauded as the mount which, by its stone houses, exhaling the amorous fragrance of venal women, betrays the dissipated youth of the cities (nore 3).
