Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

A relatively large rift cave entrance (without identified dimensions) gives access to a shaft that drops 17.7 m down into a canyon passage with a boulder floor. The descent is a scramble down a boulder slope on the eastern side of the entrance rift to an obvious ledge located at a point where the rift narrows. From here a 13.6 m pitch drops to the boulder floor. The bulk of the cave consists of one large rift passage being of some 18 m high by 2.1 m wide at its largest. From the entrance pitch the passage runs generally east to west, closing at a rock wall to the east and where the boulder floor meets the roof to the west. ETYMOLOGY & Human use: The cave takes its name from the fact that many years ago it was used by villagers to store winter snow that was then dug out, melted and used as a water supply for grazing stock in the summer. PROSPECTS: Possible digs exist at either ends of the main passage. SITUATION: South of Golgi village (note 1) lies the large and impressive limestone rdge -Ahmadun / Amadoon (note 2) that runs approximately east to west and parallel to the Kach to Ziarat road. From Golgi, take a path to the south and through the village orchards which leads steeply up hill to a high point on the Ahmadun ridge itself. The cave is situated adjacent to this high point more or less on the crest of the ridge (Brooks, S J 1997 Mss: Pakistan Cave Database).dge -Ahmadun / Amadoon (note 2) that runs approximately east to west and parallel to the Kach to Ziarat road.
