NUPTSE (Lovelock 1969) (Cave on)

Description
In the Himalayas I have found what I think is the world's highest known cave in the limestone which forms part of the Everest massif. High on the side of Nuptse, one of the trinity of Everest peaks, there is a cave at about 24,000 feet [7315 m] (LOVELOCK 1969: 95). IDENTITY: Little doubt remains that the unspecified cave high on the side of Nuptse which I have found (LOVELOCK 1969: 95) is either bullshit or a home-knit fable based on the discovery and exploration of the cave on –>Rakhiot Peak by E. Meinzinger and J R Caldwell (KAZIMER, A 1963: 127). SITUATION: Probably neither in Nepal nor high on the side of Nuptse (note 1) and at about 24,000 feet (LOVELOCK 1969: 95) but some 1'500 km further west in Pakistan in the Kashmiri Himalaya (Indus Kohistan, Diamir district, Northern Areas province) and at about 22,000 feet (6767 m asl) on the avalanche-swept east face of the south spine (arête) of Rakhiot Peak (note 2) of the Nanga Parbat massif (KAZIMER, A 1963: 127 after after Meinziger, E & Caldwell, J R). CAVE POTENTIAL: It could be the ultimate caving problem as it would inolve a major expedition just to get there, let alone to get into it (LOVELOCK 1969: 95). Iain Barker (note 3), followed by Mark Minton (note 4), assumed that the cave on Nuptse (Lovelock 1969) is a solution cave (note 5).In the Himalayas I have found what I think is the world's highest known cave in the limestone which forms part of the Everest massif.
