BHATI (Cave near)
29.549000,80.155200
Description
The cave opens via a sharp narrow (of about 600) vertical shaft. After, 5 metres down several horizontal and vertical chambers open. The inner view is highly panoramic, but no big chamber was noticed (Dr. Jayant Biswas, cave-biology.org accessed 2009.06.01). ETYMOLOGY: No autochthonous, indigenous or locally known name has been identified for what we named the cave as -Shivam cave-, as nearer to this cave already a temple of Lord Shiva exists (note 1). SITUATION: According to Dr Jayant Biswas (cave-biology.org, accessed 2009.06.01), the entrance to this cave lies in an unidentified spatial relation near (sic!) an unspecified temple of Lord Shiva at a certain village of Bhati (note 2), which is said to lie at a walking distance of 3 km in an unidentified direction from an unidentified roadside and at an unspecified distance of 22 km (rather along roads than in a direct line) towards East at about 22 km away from Pithodagarh (sic!) or, more likely, the town of Pithoragarh (N29°35': E00°13': 1815 m). CAVE CLIMATE: Dr Jayant Biswas gives no clue which would allow to conclude that the cave's so-called inner temperature reflects the mean temperature of that area i.e., around 17° with 100% humidity (cave-biology.org accessed 2009.06.01). CAVE LIFE: Dr Jayant Biswas (cave-biology.org accessed 2009.06.01) refrains from bothering to explain or to describe what kind of rich biodiversity was noticed but then we must admit to have not forwarded anything which he could copy and plagiate to publish as if it were his own work.0°13': 1815 m). It was a nice experience. Mapping and complete exploration is still awaited (Jayant Biswas, cave-biology.org accessed 2009.06.01).
