»The perennial Mangalore Nala [note 1] continuous to be perennial so long as it traverses the area occupied by the shale, but goes dry in the vicinity of Nawagaon where limestone is exposed« (ADYALKAR & PHADTARE 1972: 385; 1980: 49-50).
