»The perennial Mangalore Nala [note 1] continuous to be perennial so long as it traverses the area occupied by the shale, but goes dry in the vicinity of Nawagaon where limestone is exposed« (ADYALKAR & PHADTARE 1972: 385; 1980: 49-50). Compare –>Sirikalan Sinking ( Sukha River). SITUATION: »Nawagaon« (new village, new town) is not only in Raipur district the name of many populated places. Concerning the area covered by AMS sheet NF44-11 Raipur (U502 series, 1060 edition), we have a choice of Nawagaon N21°01': E081°52' Nawagaon N21°06': E081°50' Nawagaon N21°08': E081°47' Nawagaon N21°13': E081°48' (nima.mil/geonames accessed 16.11.2003).
