Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

An unspecified cave entrance (unidentified shape, unidentified dimensions, unidentified orientation, unidentified peculiar characteristics) gives access to a descent down into an estimated 300 m of cave passages containing mud, a crystal pool, boulders, one collapsed passage apparently choked with boulders, and a canal passage (wet, containing water) leading to an inlet arriving from a sump.SITUATION: According to Harper (2008.02.10 Mss: Bolchu Nabang.pdf), a local guide [is] essential to explain the whereabouts of Bolchu Nabang as it was understood to lie somehow near Asakgre. According to the recorded GPS position (note 1), however, the entrance to Bolchu Nabang lies in the Bangdapha area (note 2) at a linear distance of about 250 or 300 m approximately SSW from –>Khorekol, and thus at a spot where Bolchu Nabang represents one more example of the consecutive but disconnected garland of caves comprised of –>Matrongkol, –>Bangdaphakol, –>Khorekol and, south-westernmost, –>Bolchu Naban. Also nearby is –>AA Cave (Harper 2008) no. 6. CAVE DESCRIPTION (Harper, Rob 2008.02.07 Mss: Bolchu Nabang.pdf): 5 m of mud slope [which] descends to a wide and low, 1 m by 4 m, passage [cross-section possibly 1 m high and 4 m wide] with a flat mud floor which becomes larger just beyond a crystal pool approximately 30 m from the entrance. After a further 30 m of walking passage a boulder pile is reached where the passage divides.Climbing up through the boulders to the right gains a 4 by 4 m large, dry and hot passage which can be followed for about 100 m to a boulder ruckle with no obvious way on. A stooping height passage enters on the right 10 m before this boulder pile which can be followed for approximately 40 m to a 2 m pit in the floor with a low crawl which was not pushed to a conclusion. To the left at the first boulder pile a dry streamway can be followed down slope to a point where a small stream enters a small, 0.75 by 1 m, canal passage on the left, which can be wallowed aong for about 20 m to a sump.Beyond this a large, 3 by 3 m, meandering streamway can be followed upstream for an estimated 80 m to where the stream emerges from a low arch on the right then approximately 10 m to a boulder blockage. SPELEOMETRY: According to Harper, Rob (2008.02.07 Mss: Bolchu Nabang.pdf), the estimated length of Bolchu Nabang is 300 m, reaching a depth of an estimated 20 m. PROSPECTS: Harper (2008.02.07 Mss: Bolchu Nabang) noticed not only boulder ruckle with no obvious way on but also one crawl which was not pushed to a conclusion in addition to sort of a stream emerging from a low arch.ong for about 20 m to a sump.Beyond this a large, 3 by 3 m, meandering streamway can be followed upstream for an estimated 80 m to where the stream emerges from a low arch on the right then approximately 10 m to a boulder blockage. History

EXPLORATION HISTORY: 2008.02.07: So-called local guides (unidentified), Helen Harper, Keith Sanderson, Rob Harper, and Stuart McManus visited a cave called Bolchu Nabang (Harper, Rob 2008.02.07 Mss), entered, estimated a few dimensions here and there, exited, and recorded a GPS reading.
