MYRLIAT 3 (Krem)

A 10 m long open rift, partly bridged by boulders, with 5 m climb down halfway along leads to very promising hammer and chisel -dig- above a circa 10 m deep rift pot. Outward air current on 2002.02.25, 12h00. Little doubt remains that the access was dug out by Tony Jarrat and Lindsay Diengdoh to head of 4 m pitch (Jarratt, A R 2002.02.22 Mss -Krem Myrliat 3 22/2/02- amended 25/2/02). SITUATION: On the eastern side of the Shnongrim ridge and on one or the other person's left of path from Krem –>Myrliat 1 up towards the V–shaped standing stone and Krem Ryman [Krem –>Raman] (Jarratt, A R 2002.02.22 Mss -Krem Myrliat 3 22/2/02- amended 25/2/02). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2002.1: 10 m long rift with 5 m climb down halfway along leads to very promising dig above c.10 m deep rift pot (Jarratt 2002.02.22 Mss: Krem Myrliat 3) and some cavers deserve being treated with a hammer and crowbar. CAVE DESCRIPTION 2002.2: Lindsay and I continued on to Tom's find with two crowbars and a hammer. This 10 m log rift was surveyed and then we set about demolishing the partial choke above the way on. After half an hour or so we had trundled or removed enough boulders and earth to give a passable way to the head of a c. 4 m pitch which will need a ladder to descend (Jarratt 2002.02.25 Mss: Cave Log 2002: 25/2/02). CAVE DESCRIPTION 3 (JARRATT 2003): 17 m. TACKLE: 3 m -Daniel Ladder- useful for climb. 4 m ladder for undescended pitch? PROSPECTS: At a first glance good (Jarratt 2002.02.22 Mss) but at a closer look a promising lead from last year which failed to deliver (JARRATT 2003). CAVE LIFE: Heteropoda spiders (Araneae: Arachnidae: Sparrassidae).
