Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

The spectre of an imagined temple cave associated with snake worship contrieved Hindu re-modellers of British and Muslim history on awadh.com/history (accessed 24.05.2004) from Lucknow's most prominent landmark [the…] hillock called Lakshman Tila [note 1]. Upon this rise once stood a cave shrine that had been associated since the dim past with the worship of sheshnaga [note 2], the serpent with a thousand heads forming the couch upon which the god Visnhu [sic! for: Vishnu] rests between creations. The spectre of an imagined temple cave associated with snake worship contrieved Hindu re-modellers of British and Muslim history on awadh.com/history (accessed 24.05.2004) from Lucknow's most prominent landmark [the…] hillock called Lakshman Tila [note 1].
