Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

An unspecified cave entrance (unidentified shape, unidentified dimensions, unidentified orientation, unidentified characteristics) and karst spring or exsurgence (unidentified delivery) was said to give access to an enterable and relatively quite nice and rather polluted cave (February 2000), which consists predominantly of one joint guided stream cave passage (on average 1.5 m wide and 2 m high) and contains a seasonally active cave passage at a relatively higher level. ETYMOLOGY: The origin and meaning of the Amwi (Khasi) cave name Krem Paske or Krem Peske (note 1) was entirely lost to all cavers in search of recreational adventure (note 2) but may derive from the Khasi -behskei- (verb), to hunt after deer in order to kill (SINGH, N 1906: 10). The nickname Bollywood Cave (Elvidge, E 2000.02.19 Mss), however, needs to be renamed in favor of a Mollywood Cave since the city of Bombay has been renamed Mumbai. SITUATION: In an unidentified setting (note 3) just south and below the villag of Nongtalang (note 4) and an estimated 40 m east of the path which lead from a cinema into an unspecified direction and to an unidentified destination. CAVE DESCRIPTION 2000a: A resurgence cave, predominantly joint controlled stream passage, breaking through large and seasonally active phreatic passage at high level [note 5] (Elvidge 2000.02.19 Mss: Krem Peske, Bollywood). CAVE DESCRIPTION 2000b: After an impressive entrance chamber (Hotel Heteropoda) typical Dales-style walking stream passage was followed for 300 m to climbs up and through breakdown and the eventual choke. The occurrence of passage breakdown appeared to be facilitated by the numerous shale and / or chert bands which also caused respectable walking steam passages [sic! more likely: stream cave passages] to peter out into flat-out sump pools (WILKINSON, P 2000: 48). PROSPECTS: A possible continuation in a relatively small and, in February 2000, badly polluted stream inlet at a higher cave level remains unexplored til today (17.01.2013). CAVE LIFE: Unidentified spiders and cave crickets mention Elizabeth -Lizzie- Elvidge (2000.02.19 Mss: Krem Peske, Bollywood) and BOYES, P W (2000 s.a.: 4, 9). of Nongtalang (note 4) and an estimated 40 m east of the path which lead from a cinema into an unspecified direction and to an unidentified destination.
