Unspecified »caves« near a place called Marra (note 1) in the »region of Ellore« or Eluru (note 2) noticed BLUNT (1803: 60-61) on his journey from one »Chunargarh« (note 3) to a place called »Yertnagoodam« (note 4).
NOTE 1: »Marra« (BLUNT 1803: 60-61) or Mara, Bara, Barra, Bura, Burra, Vara, Varry is not identified — unless it corresponds to the village of Madhra or Madira N16°55': E080°22' (nima.mil/geonames accessed 16.11.2003), which is indicated as »Madira« on AMS sheet NE44-14 Vijayawada (U502 series) and as »Madhira« on the India Road Atlas (Eicher Goodearth 2006: 102 D3) on the Khammam Plateau. NOTE 2: The »region of Ellore« (BLUNT 1803) may include the districts of Khammam, Krishna and West Godavari but »Ellore« (BLUNT 1803) itself is the town of Eluru at N16°42': E081°06' (nima.mil/geonames accessed 16.11.2003) on AMS sheet NE44-15 Concanada (U502 series, 1963 edition) in West Godavari district on the India Road Atlas (Eicher Goodearth 2006: 103F3). NOTE 3: »Chunargarh« (BLUNT 1803) is not identified: Near Mumbai (ex- Bombay)? NOTE 4: »Yertnagoodam« (BLUNT 1803: 60-61) is possible the village indicated as »Vernagudem« near N16°59'30" E081°30'30" on AMS sheet NE44-15 Concanada (U502 series, 1963 edition) at a spot 17 miles (27.3 km) along the road west of Kovvur (N17°01': E081°44' on AMS sheet NE44-11) and opposite of Rajahmundry on the Godavari River.
