Description
One of the »potholes« (note 1) or whirlpools which »have been created by the youthful streams either below where they fall or where tributary nalas [water courses] join them« (DUTT 1955: 121). SITUATION: »The Dhodiyam stream which flows on horizontal quartzites of the Gandikota plateau [note 2] creates a picturesque falls [sic!] at about one mile [1.608 km] east of Dhodiyam and has cut a deep pot-hole below the falls« (DUTT 1955: 119).
NOTE 1: DUTT (1955, 1981) mentions »potholes« (whirlpools) called –>Bhirava Gundam, –>Chenchula Gundalu, –>Dhodiyam, –>Kannikala Gundalu, –>Pachagundalu, –>Pedda Ahobilam Potholes, and –>Varaha Gundam. NOTE 2: »The Gandikota plateau near Dhodiyam (14°56 : 78°14') is formed of horizontally disposed Cuddapah quartzites« (DUTT 1955).
