Description
The reference to unspecified and unidentified cave has been discovered on a marginal note written in Anthony 'Tony' R Jarratt's hand (note 1), which -- the note -- draws the attention of adventurous ladies with a taste for washing to the handsome Ba Spindro Dkhar from Lumshnong insofar as he had mentioned a certain Krem Umsaithad Kynthei – not visited and that's it. ETYMOLOGY: The origin and meaning of the Synteng Khasi (Pnar) cave name Krem Umsaithad Kynthei (Jarratt, A R undated 2001 / 2002 Mss) or -Krem Um Saithet Kynthei- (standard Khasi) has not been identified but seems to signify a -krem- or cave on an -um- or stream of water / stream associated with to wash (note 2) and one female / woman or two (note 3): a Cave on a Stream where Women Wasg (themselves) or Cave above the Women's Bathing Stream. SITUATION: Unknown. Somewhere in the vicinity of Lumshnong. PROSPECTS: We can safely assume that male guides are reluctant to disclose the whereabouts of the washing place andcave entrance.cave entrance.
