Description
An unspecified cave (no name mentioned) is said to be accessible from –>Chhango Gufa by way of a fabulous subterranean tunnel: »Some people we met believe that learned lamas can enter the cave [–>Chhango Gufa] and … come out at … a cave in the upper Chhoyang basin« (REINHARD 1978: 11) or »near the headwaters of the Chhoyang River at the foot of Mt. Chamlang« (REINHARD 1978: 12). SITUATION: Some 10 km south of –>Khanpalung (note 1), the river Chhoyang (Chhoyan), the Apsuwa Khola on Central Service Map, sheet 09 Sankhuwasabha (1989 edition), is shown on AMS sheet NG45-03 Kanjenchunga (U502 series, 1963 edition) to join near N27°33': E087°14' near the village of »Choyang« (AMS sheet NG45-03) or »Chhoyan« (India Road Atlas, Eicher Goodearth 2006: A3) the Arun from the approximate north-west.
NOTE 1: REINHARD (1978: 9-10) places the forested valley of »Khembalung« (Khanpalung), a tributary to Arun River, about 10 km (probably on foot) upstream from the confluence of the Chhoyang or Apsuwa Khola, the »Abshuwa Valley« of DIEMBERGER (1990 edited 1991: 67).
