Tham Phi - KA0071
14.314780,98.974871
Location
From the old jetty for Tham Lawa on the right bank of the river, take the boat for more than 1 km (approximately 10 minutes) upstream to a point where there is a shallow rapids in the middle of the river. Then the river makes a sharp right bend and passes close to a steep mountain, which lies on the true left bank of the river. From a distance, the dark cave entrance of Tham Phi can already be seen behind the leaves of the rainforest. You have to tie the boat underneath the entrance to the trees growing on the bank and climb about 20 vertical metres over a steep embankment up to the cave entrance.
Description
The entrance faces north, sloping inside to chambers covered with fallen rocks with a thick deposit of guano, but no obvious archaeological material apart from a single coffin.
