Description

The four caves (in Brahui: kode) at the village of Kaltach are solutional cave remnants in a limestone conglomerate (Sibi? formation). A large north - south trending joint in the limestone hill is likely to have had impact / controll of the cave development. CAVE DESCRIPTION (Kaltach Kode 1): The obvious 4 m diameter entrance runs uphill for some 10 m whereupon it enlarges laterally (8 m wide, 1 m high) and runs steeply uphill (58°) to terminate in a small chamber (Brooks, S J 2000.10.15 Mss: Pakistan Cave Record; BROOKS 2001b: 26). SITUATION: [note 1] About two hours north of Gazk [note 2] or 1.25 hrs south of Johan [note 3], take a rough un-metalled track east to an area known as Hanari [note 4]. The caves are situated [note 5] on the NNE or left side of a dry river valley [note 6] and in an isolated hillock (note 7) of what appears to be a limestone conglomerate of the Sibi Formation. The four caves (in Brahui: kode) at the village of Kaltach are solutional cave remnants in a limestone conglomerate (Sibi? formation).
