Description
A sink (?) or resurgence (?) cave, which is suspected to be one of the sinks that drain the –>Waikutaran (Kutabram) Depression, is situated at a distance in a direction from Chibak. CAVE DESCRIPTION (note 1): A cave entrance (7 m wide, 2 m high) decorated with stalactites (speleothems) leads to a cave passage descending across breakdown into a first, elongated chamber that is obviously flooded during monsoon (possibly from below): The lower part of the floor consists of rocks which are covered by soil (loam, mud) at higher elevations. At the deepest point, there is a large swallow hole (sink) and the far corner ascends steeply. Using old, cut steps (man-made) we climb up to a bend to the left, which leads to a beautiful pointed arch profile. Passing a first cross-rift, after 50 m the gallery intersects a 10 m deep cross-rift extending down to water. CULTURAL HISTORY - fishing ground: Here are several angling rods. TACKLE: There is a suitable natural belay (-hour-glass- style) and a 10-ladder should suffice. PROSPECTS: It is not known if one of the passages at the bottom continues.-ladder should suffice. PROSPECTS: It is not known if one of the passages at the bottom continues.
