At a length of 11 km the longest railway tunnel of India (note 1), which had been planned to be completed by December 2009 (note 2), is going to pierce limestones, clay and quartzites of the Pir Panjal Range between (note 3) Laole (Banihal) to Quazigund on the Udhampur - Srinagar line (RASHID 2007.01.28).At a length of 11 km the longest railway tunnel of India (note 1), which had been planned to be completed by December 2009 (note 2), is going to pierce limestones, clay and quartzites of the Pir Panjal Range between (note 3) Laole (Banihal) to Quazigund on the Udhampur - Srinagar line (RASHID 2007.01.28).
