An undidentified number of many drip-ledged caves (note 1) or, perhaps, modified natural rock shelters, have been noticed on the forested Rajagala, the King's Rock or King of Rocks, and were found to contain rock art (CEYLON TRAVELLER 1974, 1983: 177). SITUATION: On the road from Amparai (N07°17': E081°40' ) generally north-west to Maha Oya (N07°32': E081°21'), about two miles or 3 km north of the Navakiri aru tank (note 2) and without orientation to the left ( (CEYLON TRAVELLER 1983:177) or west or south-west. CAVE DESCRIPTION: Some of the caves have walls in front, some contain frescoe paintings and many have rock inscriptions (rock art) (CEYLON TRAVELLER 1983:177).An undidentified number of many drip-ledged caves (note 1) or, perhaps, modified natural rock shelters, have been noticed on the forested Rajagala, the King's Rock or King of Rocks, and were found to contain rock art (CEYLON TRAVELLER 1974, 1983: 177).
