Description
An unspecified but locally known cave called Krem Domlatir is said (Kharpran Daly 2002.12.17 personal communication) to be situated somewhere on Lum Iawpaw, the hill above Nongnah (N25°15'57”: E091°19'33”: 1020 m asl WGS84). ETYMOLOGY: The standard Khasi adjective -dom- (note 1) means hot tempered, hard and the noun -ka dom- is a pull (of smoke) (SINGH, N 1906: 71) while -la- is (1) a sign of the past tense or (2) a sign of possesive case, but also means (3) though, although; (4) plus -+-, and is (5) is a short form of both -sla- or a leaf and (6) -khla- or a tiger (SINGH, N 1906: 108).
