Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

An about 2 m wide and 1.4 m high cave entrance without identified shape faces an unidentified direction and is not only said to give access to a similar sized [cave] passage but also has been honoured as a relatively Best entrance of Krem –>Mankrem (note 1). ETYMOLOGY: There seem to exist no records for Krem Rapasan as such but a) a so-called -Davidson- (i.e. Arbenz, T 2010.02.22 dated 23.3.2007 Mss: Krem Man Krem_Rec.doc) associates the cave name Krem Man Krem with Krem Nim Bra Pong / Krem Rapasan without explanation. b) Arbenz, T undated 2010 February Mss Ross Davidson Krem Rapasan 2) declares the Name of the doline as sourced from the [unidentified] owner (no name mentioned) and points out that the name's origin [is] unknown to immigrants who are unfamiliar with the area (note 2). Additionally created have been the spelling versions Krem Rapsan (Arbenz, T 2010.04.12 Mss: Pala Positions.xlsx) and Krem Krem Rapsan 1 and 2 (Arbenz, T 2010.03.31 cave distribution map: Pala_Ridge_4-10pdf). SITUATION 2010a: At an unspecified location and, apparently, close to but in an unidentified spatial relation to Krem Rapasan 2 because both of The entrances [allegedly] known as Krem Rapasan … lie in the undergrowth behind the field on the base of the doline (note 3). SITUATION 2010b: : A second and third entrance … Known as Krem Rapasan … lie next to each other on a position N25°26’08.9”: E092°35’08.7” (allegedly -Davidson- but actually Arbenz, T 2010.02.22 dated -23.3.2007- [sic!] Mss: Krem Man Krem_Rec.doc) and thus 96.6 m in a direct line approximately WNW from where Davidson (2010 Mss) positioned the entrance to Krem Rapasan 2 near (allegedly ±15 m) N25°26'08.8”: E092°35'12.1”: 795 m asl (WGS84).SITUATION 2010c: Arbenz, T (2010.03.31 cave distribution map: Pala_Ridge_4-10.pdf) indicates the name Rapsan (sic!), which seems to represent the pair of cave entrances recorded as Krem Rapasan, as Krem Krem Rapsan 1 and 2 at one and same same spot near N25°26'08”: E092°35'2” (WGS84) along with 795 m Davidson 2010 at a spot about 490 m in a direct line approximately north-east from the entrance to Krem Mankrem (25°25’58.7”: E092°34’57.9” WGS84). APPROACH 2010a: A second and a third entrance … lie next to each other. Contour North from the football pitch [note 4] bearing [without identified direction] right into a grike after 600 m [note 5]. Follow the path, keeping left [sic! in an unidentified direction] ascending over the edge of a [relatively] large doline [without identified dimensions, apparently with a more or less level floor, and in February 2010 a -field- of sorts], passing a (blind) sinkhole [note 6], descend into the doline. The entrances lie in the undergrowth behind the field or the base of the doline (anonymous Ross Davidson 2010 February dated -07.06.2009- [sic!] Mss: Krem Man Krem_Rec.doc). APPROACH 2010b: Allegedly -Davidson- (more likely: Arbenz [?] 2010.02.22 dated -23.3.2007- [sic!] Mss: Krem Man Krem_Rec.doc): Contour North from thefootball pitch, bearing right into a grike. After 600 m follow the path, keeping left, ascending over the edge of a large doline, passing a (blind) sinkhole [i.e. –>AA Sinkhole Davidson 2010] and descend into the doline. The entrances lie in the undergrowth behind the field on the base of the doline. APPROACH 2012: Contour north from the football pitch, bearing right into a grike. Keeping left while ascending over the edge of a large doline, pass a (blind) sinkhole and descend into the doline. The entrances lie in undergrowth behind the field in the base of the doline. These entrances are known as Krem Rapasan (ARBENZ, T 2012: 149). CULTURAL HISTORY: What somebody interpreted as a Part of human skull [had been] found a [relatively] short way [without identified distance] into the second (Krm Rapasan) entrance (Allegedly -Davidson- (more likely: Arbenz [?] 2010.02.22 dated -23.3.2007- [sic!] Mss: Krem Man Krem_Rec.doc).football pitch, bearing right into a grike.
