An unspecified sacred cave or rock shelter (temple cave) which, if it comes to metres in size, is probably not the mother of all caves as it is dedicated to Vamuna, who is one of the nine avatars of Lord Vishnu or, to be precise, the fifths incarnation of Vishnu, as a dwarf. SITUATION: Behind and above the ancient Raghunath Temple at Deoprayag (note 1): In front of the temple is Garuda and to the left is Annapurna. Behind the temple and slightly up a hill is Vamana’s cave. Nearby is Lord Rama’s stone throne. There is a Tourist Bungalow here, which is a pleasant place to stay.
