Description
The southward facing entrance, approximately 2 m high by 1 m wide, lies at the foot of a 20 metre cliff and leads to a seasonal stream sink and cave in limestone. The cave meets a bed of yellow friable yellow calcareous sandstone / limestone immediately before the sump (Smart, C M 2013.05.01 Mss: Krem Amladkoh 26 February 2012) or stream sink at base of cliff to mud banks / sump? (Smart C M 2012.02.21 survey sheet paginated 4, dated 21|2|12). ETYMOLOGY: The Amwi Khasi -Krem Amladkoh- (note 1) signifies a cave on the -am- or stream (note 2) of (note 3) a -dkoh- or cripple (note 4) and was explained with a villager having fallen over the cliff (Smart, C M 2013.05.01 Mss: Krem Amladkhoh / Krem Amladkoh 26 February 2012). There was, however, an unidentified dubasia (note 5) who was said to have interpreted the name of the stream as lost limb (note 6) but this would be rather an -Amladkhot- or, to be precise, an -Amladkhotmet- (note 7). So far recorded have been the spelling versions Amladhoh (note 8), allegedly procured by G. Parleyfort Pamthied as a cave name from teacher in Syndai (Smart, C M 2013.03.11 Mss: The definitive list of the caves of Syndai; Smart, C M 2013.05.01 Mss: Krem Amladkhoh / Krem Amladkoh 26 February 2012) Krem [deleted: Amlatkok] Amladkoh [note 9]
