DOLING (Krem U)

Description
A relatively large (sic!), partly collapsed cave entrance without identified size is surrounded by abandoned coal mines and breaches sandstone to underlying limestone. ETYMOLOGY: The Khasi -Krem U Doling- translates to Cave [of the honourable Mister] Doling. SITUATION: At an unknown location in an unspecified relation somehow close (sic!) to Krem –>Soh Shympi. CAVE DESCRIPTION: The cave entrance leads to a 6 m wide and high cave passage with a limestone boulder floor which leads after 12 m to the accessible side of a boulder choke. Several descending crawls and squeezes between boulders were tried but no way on was found. Local guides, however, insist that there was a large cave enterable until a collapse occurred within the last few years. SPELEOMETRY: Harper (undated February 2001 Mss) and Stuart McMANUS et al. (s.a. = 2001) recorded a passage length of 20 m but Harper (2002.04.31 Mss -megahlay.doc- entry 19) an estimated length of 40 m and an alleged vertical range of 15 m. CAV LIFE: Spiders.
