Description

Herbert Daniel Gebauer - 06/01/2018

A tiny souvenir shop dealing -- as the signboard said-- with all kinds of stones / specialist in jewelries. The -dukan- (kiosk, corner- shop) consists of a cubicle covering an area about 10 square metres, perhaps up to 3 m high, roofed with corrugated asbestos cement sheets. This -shopping cave- (note 1) at Hampi is situated in a lane north of the main road in Hampi Bazaar. To reach the shop, walk for about 200 m (two thirds) from the bus stand WNW towards Virupaksha temple. A few metres past the makeshift shelter (in December 1981 and in spring 2004 made from corrugated iron sheets) housing the parked temple chariot (on the left-hand side) turn into lane on the right. Follow this lane some for 30 or 40 m and find the shop (in case it still exists) on the right-hand side, just before reaching the -Pay & Use Toilet-, and opposite of a two-storied building with a rooftop restaurant.A tiny souvenir shop dealing -- as the signboard said-- with all kinds of stones / specialist in jewelries.
