Description
»As for swallow holes [note 1] there is one in Nimanpur forests [compare –>Nimanpur Forest]. It is locally known as Sita Samadhi and occurs in Lendwa forests [note 2] about 2.5 miles [4 km along a route or in a direct line] to the North of Nimanpur [note 3] village« (Conservator of Forests, Dhar State 1946.01.21).
NOTE 1: These »swallow holes« are probably not so much holes inhabited by swallows but insurgences (sink holes). NOTE 2: »Lendwa forests« are not identified as no »Lendwa« is listed on nima.mil/geonames (accessed 16.11.2003) or in IMPERIAL GAZETTEER (1907-1909, 25: 189, 322) and in the India Road Atlas (Eicher Goodearth 2006 index).NOTE 3: »Nimanpur« (Conservator of Forests, Dhar State 1946.01.21) and »Namanpur« (HOLLAND 1903: 15) is indicated as »Nimanpur« near N22°22'30”: E076°20' on AMS sheet NF43-07 Indore (U502 series, 1959 edition) but not shown on the India Road Atlas (Eicher Goodearth 2006: 70 B2).
