There is (does it exist?) an unspecified sacred cave of unspecified nature, character and dimensions (FILLIOZAT 1977 edited 1980: 2), which, if it exists (note 1), is possibly used as a temple cave. Compare the so-called –>Pampasarovar Caves. SITUATION: At an unspecified location on the way from Hospet to Anegondi and in the midst of natural rocky hills [where] there is a tank [note 2]. Here there are two caves (note 3). CULTURAL HISTORY - religious folklore: In this cave Parvati is said to have done penance and pleased Siva [Shiva], who appeared before her and asked her to go to his abode in the Hemakuta hills [note 4] on the southern banks of the river [Tungabhadra].
