Description
A second rift cave (Conway, J in: CHABERT & CONWAY 1972 cave plan: Gayana Cave 2) is situated somewhere near Mangu (± 1 km 31°13'50”N: 76°59'00”E), about 10 km north of Arki), between the villages of »Gayana« (Ghiana ±1 km 31°14'30”N: 76°58'20”E) and Karara (±1 km 31°13'40”N: 76°57'40”E). CAVE POTENTIAL: Since the cave was visited by adventure tourists of the »British Speleological Expedition to the Himalayas 1970« one can safely assume that these BSE explorers, equipped with inadequate lights of their time and determined to break depth records, did not even attempt to consider looking out for possible high level continuations.
History
EXPLORATION HISTORY: 1970 (October): Members of the "British Speleological Expedition to the Himalayas 1970", guided by the forest warden Het-Ram or Set Ram, a police officer reduced to "Sid" (C.I.D.) and a certain "Energy" (Banerjee?), visited, laddered and descended, explored, mapped and exited.
