Out of more then 50 rock shelters at Malavi Zhob (note 1) at least eight or nine contain what appears to be post-Harappan to medieval rock art (paintings), which depicts in black, brown and yellow humans and horse riders at war, accompanied by dogs (so-called wolves) and armed with swords and shields (note 2). SITUATION: In a narrow fold of Koh-e-Suleman, some 25-30 km south of Takht-e-Suleman [note 3] … Malavi Zhob is a lush green oasis in a narrow fold of Koh-e-Suleman, some 25-30 km south of Takht-e-Suleman. The oasis, 2000 meters above sea level, is at a distance of one hour's drive north of Musa Khel [note 4]. History

EXPLORATION HISTORY: The rock art sites are known to local people since time immemorial. 15 November 1997: A news item released by APP, followed by a 50 seconds film on PTV in the News, pronounced the discovery of nine caves & rock shelters belonging to stone age, where according to a renowned archaeologist Mr. Fazal Dad Kakar during a survey found a series of rock paintings which had a great resemblance with those of Altamira (Spain), Lascauxs (southern France) and Sahara. 14 December 1997: Badar Abro visited (baloch2000.org/history/zob.htm accessed 31.07.2004).
